@Key2Vdoor@VigilantFox This isn't a job that anyone can do. It requires a certain level of natural ability and drive. I was a car guy when I started, having had a truck in a national magazine when I was 24. I honestly hate cars now.
@Key2Vdoor@VigilantFox 1 thing about my industry. If you ask the older techs questions legitimately, and honestly want to learn, we'll drop everything to help. We have all learned more from fellow techs than we have from schooling. I've mentored 2 techs. 1 successfully.
@Key2Vdoor@VigilantFox My high school had an auto shop classes. This gave me the tools I needed to get my first job in the industry, which I got my senior year (83-84). I went to school in the morning, and to the Ford dealer after lunch. After that, I took advantage of Ford's technical training.
@Key2Vdoor@VigilantFox Ford does sponsor training. I've trained and worked with several. 43 years in this "career" Ford technical training is 99% of what I learned to do this job.
@VigilantFox I am 60 years old. I've worked at Ford dealer's for 43 of those. I've cleared $100K exactly 3 times in my career, even adjusting for inflation. I've never hit $110K. Those that book lots of hours can rarely fix difficult to diagnose cars.
@themagaking Don't worry. The next GOP candidate will be "worse than Trump." I've watched the left since Reagan. Without fail, the Republican candidate has always been worse than the last, and always "literally Hitler."
@JoeyMannarino@PeterSweden7@grok This is part of Biden's "Infrastructure" Bill in the US. Driver monitoring to detect an impaired driver is required in the US for 2027 and newer model cars (if memory serves).
Hello @DHLUS, might I suggest that you inform your drivers that the left lane is for passing? I43 btwn Darien and Clinton, WI, one of your drivers never left the left lane, even as traffic built up behind him. Stayed beside another vehicle for miles. Blocking traffic is illegal.
@japan_nobunaga IMHO, ketchup is acceptable on a hot dog (probably not a Chicago style hot dog, however), but should NEVER be anywhere near a bratwurst, Italian Sausage, Polish Sausage or the like. Midwest Gen-Xer, here. My wife disagrees, however, and there is strife.
@johnrich Federal government would never allow such a vehicle to be sold, here. FFS, a backup camera is required safety equipment, now. Not to mention tire pressure monitoring, crash mitigation, and now impaired driver vehicle lockout...
