He grinned as his eyes moved from the falling dropship to the burning husks of tanks and mechs and the ashes of what had once been infantry units that were scattered before his mech, a testament to a failed assault. They had been cut down to the last instead of fleeing the field.
He had been right; two great houses were now at war. It had started as a cross-border raid with a few forces, but as soon as it was apparent that there was momentum, even more forces were committed, and now at least 20 or so planets sat in an occupation zone.
His golden eyes hidden behind his polarized faceplate as he watched a burning dropship fall from the sky, a victim of the freshly defended orbital cannon. His contract had been simple: defend the planetary defenses, stop the enemy from gaining a beachhead.
Conner nodded; it would be a poor impression on his new employer if he got lost on his first day, and the wolf was very reputation-oriented.
"I will try to stay close."
He replied as he followed behind Nari, his eyes roving over the Skaven again in the way one would eye a-
