We're grateful to the leadership, staff, and supporters of Dreamland Hospital for 14 years of shared commitment, hard work, and friendship. Together, we have shown what can be achieved by remaining focused on a common goal: delivering better healthcare for those who need it most.
Our online biomedical engineering course has been widely used across Guyana through a Ministry of Health funded initiative. It is fantastic that another cohort of students is scheduled to be trained in the near future.
Our CEO, Tim Beacon, was delighted to meet the Minister for Health for Guyana, Dr Frank Anthony, at the World Health Assembly in Geneva. He is thrilled about the programme, its success, and is looking forward to welcoming the new cohort of students to the course.
We are also looking for funding to supply neonatal resuscitation kits across LMICs, so if you are able to help with this, please do get in touch at: [email protected]
We're encouraged to see our neonatal resuscitation kit being used in northern Malawi, where we've been working with our great friend Dr Trish to develop neonatal resuscitation training. It is a sad reality that many babies die because these low cost resources are not available.
This baby was not breathing post C-section but was successfully resuscitated by local team members. Our own neonatal resuscitation chart is also widely in use. You can find out more about our neonatal resuscitation kit and chart at: https://t.co/D5V6NvKGOD
Medical Aid International has a long term relationship with the UK Military delivering practical and classroom based learning. It was a pleasure for our CEO to deliver a day's training on LMIC healthcare to the Royal Navy Emergency Department and Critical Care nurses last week.
They are both looking forward to reconnecting with old friends, meeting new colleagues and sharing ideas on global health.
If youβll be in Geneva, do let them know; theyβd welcome the opportunity to connect and catch up during the week. #WHA79
Our CEO is really excited to be heading to the World Health Assembly in Geneva (starting 18thMay) with his long-time friend Adele, CEO of International Health Partners.
Itβs great to be part of such an important global gathering. #WHA79
It is so great to see the team are ready to learn and make a difference at their hospital, and we look forward to supporting them throughout their biomedical engineering training journeys!
Our latest cohort is getting started in Ethiopia, with each student receiving a resource package to help them directly apply what they are learning. This includes a comprehensive professional toolkit, set of textbooks, a digital library of service manuals, and workplace attire.
It has been fantastic to be part of this project from the outset, and we look forward to working with and supporting the hospital for many more years to come.
One of the most exciting aspects of our work is that we are privileged to watch projects evolve and see their direct impact on patients. As we mentioned last week, one of our latest projects is supporting and equipping a trauma centre in Africa.
For instance, by providing the biomedical engineering support from the outset, this facilitated the installation of the newly received ceiling light by our trained biomedical engineers, who completed the work confidently and quickly.
It is great to see this equipment being sent where it is needed most. Not only that, it is also tailored to the LMIC environment, extremely high-quality, and built to last. Look out for our post next week where weβll share how the installation of the equipment is going!
It is fantastic that through our projects we get to work with such a wide range of organisations across numerous countries around the globe. As a result of this work, and thanks to generous funding, we are pleased to say our latest shipment recently arrived at its destination.
The focus was on supplying a series of medical equipment to support a trauma centre in Africa we previously fully equipped. Included as part of the shipment was an autoclave, air purifiers, mattresses, as well as a ceiling light.
