Unsurprisingly, students generally prefer college email for important messages, which is true across all ages and genders. The least favorite ways to receive notifications include social media, calls to personal phones, and direct mail. When in doubt, use email for shout-outs!
Across the board, 2 in 3 students have iPhones. The difference is even more pronounced among younger students, where 3 in 4 are Apple users. Interestingly, female students are more likely to have iPhones, with 80% using that OS operating system, compared to 67% of male students.

Streaming is the most popular way to watch TV for students of all ages. 2 in 3 students 16-50 stream their shows. For students 51+, 1 in 3 students stream, followed by cable, and then antenna viewing options.

Students watch the most TV between 6 p.m. and midnight — as many as +75% of students turn on the tube during these times! But don’t advertise on Tuesday or Saturday nights, students’ least-popular time to tune in.

AM/FM radio has fallen in popularity, from 52% of students in fall 2012 to just 13% a decade later. Meanwhile, internet streaming has soared from 17% to 40%, with music downloads hitting a record high of 41%.
