This scaphe #sundial —where hour lines are engraved inside the bowl—dates from the 1880s & is based on similar instruments by the astronomer Kuo Shou-ching.
Over 400 years before it was made, sundials like this were the first public clocks in Korea.

Scientist & entrepreneur Guglielmo Marconi was born #onthisday in 1874.
Marconi used this Righi Oscillator for many of his early experiments and demonstrations. It's named after a physicist who taught Marconi & encouraged his experiments.
