@DrJohnHhess I had COVID in May and am fully vaxxed. Masked and distanced at the event where I caught it. Mild case, told by doc to take vitamins to help. I’m now “dropping” common words while speaking (ie forgetting what the word is). I also have ADHD but it’s gotten worse since COVID.
@menysnoweballes@souriceaux It really is! It’s like Disney decided “okay you can have both parents but you MUST have emotional devastation.” CAN WE GET A BREAK FOR A HOT MINUTE, DISNEY?!
@ISASaxonists The link won’t work for me! I’ll try again tomorrow on my computer for sure because the work is beautiful and I LOVE what it supports! 😍💖
So this said, BIPOC scholars, I’m sorry. I will continue to do what I can and will continue to help where I can. Yt scholars, we👏🏼need👏🏼to👏🏼be👏🏼better👏🏼. Stop being self-righteous jags, Shut up for once, and *Listen* to BIPOC colleagues.
Every time I look back at what’s going on in #academia, I think to myself “holy shit, what a toxic waste dump of yt supremacist noise.” I want to go back in and fix it but you can’t fix something that doesn’t want to be.
It’s my job as a yt ally to support BIPOC profs, scholars, students, academics as much as I can - and I will continue to do so through scholarship and the interactions I have with yt academics. But my own disability made it impossible for me to continue in that climate.
Kanye West decision to wear a “White Lives Matter” shirt is disgusting, dangerous, and irresponsible. Some of y’all will rush to defend him. You should ask yourselves why…
@poutinesmoothie Shit you not: my daughter and I drive past this sign twice a year and it has become an inside joke. I legit almost pulled over the first time. At least I would’ve died happy (provided there actually was cheese)
@tkinias I mean, I’m not a historian but I’m a medieval literature scholar and I find a lot of overlap with my medieval history colleagues in our primary sources.
I’m spending my first Friday I’ve had alone in AGES telling my laminating machine it’s okay to make mistakes and I just want you, dear reader, to extend the same grace to yourself. #selfcare
