Patricia Cornwell grew up in Montreat, North Carolina, where I grew up. She had a very difficult childhood, and my mother adopted her in her heart as her own and loved her as much. My mother is the one who first encouraged her to write and gave her a journal. Today, Patricia is one of the best-selling authors in this country.

Her latest book just came out May 5. It’s her life story, and it is called “True Crime.” She reflects back over her life, sharing the ups and downs and much of the pain she went through. She also writes about the impact my mother had on her life. When I started reading it, it was hard to put down. Patricia is an incredible storyteller—she knows how to pull you into the pages and doesn’t let go! @1pcornwell

Without Title IX, I never would have became the SEC record holder in the 200 butterfly making me one of the fastest Americans of all time. I never would have become a 12x All-American. I never would have been named the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the year or the SEC Community Service Leader of the Year. These are accomplishments I will forever be proud of!
