The president has had not one word of criticism for the domestic terrorists who stormed the US Capitol today, who left a pipe bomb outside the RNC. Not one word.
If VP Pence—a nationally elected constitutional officer—were a decent and serious person, he would make a statement telling people to leave the Capitol, and he would announce he intends to try to secure today from a majority of the Cabinet the invocation of the 25th amendment.
When the Capitol is cleared and secured, and the joint session of Congress and the electoral vote count is completed, the House and the Senate should proceed immediately to the impeachment and removal of @realDonaldTrump.
What should happen in the next 24 hours:
1. Clear the Capitol—as peacefully as possible, but in any case remove the mob from the seat of the legislative branch of our government.
2. Reconvene and finish counting the electoral votes.
3. Impeach in the House, convict in the Senate.
We are now witnessing a primal threat to our democracy. Constitutional remedies may include 25th Amendment and impeachment and removal of the President.
Please take this seriously:
The Defense Department has just denied a request by DC officials to deploy the National Guard to the US Capitol, reports @byaaroncdavis.
“White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows reported spending almost $75,000 through his PAC this year after announcing he would not run for re-election, with many expenses appearing to be for personal use...Using campaign funds for personal use is illegal.” https://t.co/dXt8Bplynl
