I genuinely think that NHS HR departments are one of the top reasons why the NHS struggles with recruitment.

I did an emergency locum shift in March in an external trust, and in order to get paid I have to sign up as an employee (which is fine) but now apparently I have to physically turn up (2 hour drive) with my documents so that someone can check that they are originals.

First of all, who does that anymore? (Even the Home Office can accept scanned documents now)

Secondly, I'm just trying to get paid for a shift that's already worked in the past!

This is why trusts that sometimes struggle to recruit need to deep dive into their recruitment process - clinicians scratching their heads wondering why they can't attract employees on a short or long term basis should start there.
