Early British narrative photography + comparative representations of archetypal women
Another fabulous @SSNCI_tweets conference last weekend! I presented on Robert French's tourist images of Ireland (1865-1914) in the 40k strong Lawrence Collection. Their incredible scope makes them a huge source of visual inspiration for how we researchers visualize 19C Ireland.
If you're visiting us at General Register House from next week...

Channeling my PhD Viva stress (it's on FRIDAY) into making notecards with bullet points for every possible question I can think of. Just made one titled "Self" with tidbits like "my niece made me this necklace for good luck." So that's about where my brain is at today. #phdlife
@a_h_reaume I once saw a car fully run a red light & right into a van. The van's electrics got damaged & windshield wipers then went crazy. Insurance later called me saying the car claimed they had been turning legally & the van hadn't seen them because of the wipers. Glad I gave my number!
Application fee paid but application showing payment pending - Skilled worker Visa & graduate visa
@UKVIgovuk Can you please take a look into this matter ? There is absolutely no help and people have been paying the fees twice/thrice just to get the application submitted.

@UKVIgovuk - a significant number of people (including myself) have had an issue with your visa application system over the past 2 weeks. After paying visa fees & confirming application submission, the system will return to the main page asking for payment again. Any fix/updates?
Early women photographers could find themselves in competition with each other, especially in London from the mid 1850s as more studios were established. One of these was Miss Mina Peyton who advertised her London Oxford Street portrait studio in The Times in February 1854. 1/2
