We surveyed 3,500 patients on the term 'pain catastrophizing'
• 1/3 of those who had heard of the term said it was problematic or stigmatizing.
• Of those, 12% reported stigma from the term.
We concluded: "Clinician education on patient-centered terminology may improve care and reduce stigma."
