@annav_edwards Our health care spending needs to be reassessed for sure. Its sad that people have to pay for medications that will prevent high-cost hospital visits/surgeries, etc. Prophylactic coverage makes much more sense in terms of saving money and lives. #PHARM4420
It would be interesting to see how much the government could save if they paid for preventative medications such as , antihypertensives, contraception. This would reduce the burden on our healthcare system in the long run by preventing need for further treatment later #PHARM4420
What does the federal government define as a "medically necessary service"? Medications, dental work, physiotherapy, or any service provided by your pharmacist are all medical services where patients must pay to receive. #PHARM4420
In our current healthcare crisis, taking funding away from medical servicing is not the answer. It raises further concerns, why do we have to resort to virtual diagnosis that requires out of pocket charges? There are lack of alternatives. #PHARM4420

@MtimmonsTimmons It is so exciting to see government support of pharmacists in our neighbouring atlantic provinces Madison! I hope Newfoundland is quick to follow in their footsteps and we can get the ball rolling for these clinics here.
@Kyle_Fraser13#Pharm4420 I agree Kyle! So many people in our province are having to wait hours in an ER for basic care. Pharmacy clinics could cut down on this big time and make some services more accessible.
After seeing this overwhelming success they are opening 4 more clinics in other areas of the province! I hope to see this innovation in our province, especially after other Atlantic provinces have adopted this idea. Below is a list of services offered by the clinic. #PHARM4420
In Lethbridge, Loblaw’s pharmacist-led clinic is seeing up to 40 patients per day where pharmacists can assess patients, prescribe medications for minor illnesses and injuries, administer vaccines, support chronic disease management and order and receive lab results. #Pharm4420
It is so exciting to be a pharmacy student and see our practice evolve. A recent development that has everybody talking are pharmacist-led clinics! These are beginning to pop up in other provinces and are proving just how significant a role pharmacists can play. #PHARM4420
