Most boomers seem unable to grasp the extraordinarily simple idea that if they were simply born 40 years later, they would not be able to live the life they have lived.
Their quality of life would be significantly worse.
Why can't they understand this?
I canceled my @sfchronicle subscription last year, for obvious reasons. And yet, weirdly, they continue to bill me. Every month. And when I log in, it just tells me I'm already unsubscribed. What would you call this?? 🤔
A NYE Covid 🧵. It’s nearing the end of year four of the Covid pandemic and I’m exhausted. I’m sad. I’m frustrated. And not for the reasons you might think. In the beginning Covid didn’t significantly alter my life. I was already disabled & housebound when the pandemic hit. /1
We understand what everyone else seems unwilling to face. That if masking & behavioural changes were too much for you - losing your health & independence will be impossible to cope with. And while many causes of chronic illness and disability aren’t preventable /14
"Case-control studies have provided more robust data than the initial cohort studies, but the high prevalence of most of the reported persistent symptoms among cases and controls complicates any firm attribution of causality to the initial SARS-CoV-2 infection."
Two million people. Half children. Starved. Bombed. Cut from communication.
Have those facilitating this thought much about the future this leaves us? No.
Some may dismiss a ceasefire as naïve or worse. Yet who has a plan for what follows this destruction? What do we call that?
We need a permanent free N95 mask program. N95s protect against multiple health threats including COVID and bad air quality. Every person should be able to have N95 masks sent to their house free of charge, or be able to pick up free N95s from a local community center.
@SpareTheAir on days like this, why isn’t every corporation required to WFH? it should be required. unnecessary commutes are horrible for the air even on “normal” days.
We're all just trying to get by in life. Most of us just want to love and be loved and feel some joy during our limited lifetimes where the end is never known. Can we please just give more of a shit about each other, and try to make life a bit better for each and every one of us?
Transplant recipients are required to take the Covid vaccine to be eligible to receive an organ.
But their doctors & nurses can needlessly expose them to #COVID19 all throughout every part of their treatment & transplant, including when they're on immunosuppressants.
If you think COVID-19 is "like a flu" for most people and only dangerous to a few unlucky folks, you've been lied to.
Just ask people who had HIV in the 80s and 90s. If you can find one.
An HIV infection also feels like the flu. But we wouldn't call HIV mild and flu like now.
I was perusing US Covid media coverage & I was amused to see we’re still hearing from the same rotating list of captured experts who have been wrong about everything since 2020, spectacularly bombing every prediction. The list never changes. It’s always the same people. Thread:
My respirator is not a sign that I'm panicking.
You're panicking because you didn't expect to be reminded that you're not doing your part to help society adapt to an airborne pandemic & air pollution.

Do you know someone in the U.S. who has *summer flu* right now? Can you let them know it’s probably not the flu?
This is CDC’s current U.S. map showing minimal to zero influenza activity in the U.S. for week ending Aug 12, 2023.
