@VetFinals How long have they owned her and where did they get her? Any recent dietary changes? Vaccines? Any worming history, if so what with and when? Any other pets with signs? Can they describe the V/D? Any other signs? #vetfinals
@VetFinals Lay flat out, examine to make sure all parts are there and there is a hole at the cervical star. Check both sides/inside and out to make sure there are no abnormalities with blood vessels and there are no darker areas #vetfinals
@VetFinals Mare - examine vulva (trauma), make sure the whole placenta has been passed, check she is producing milk
Foal -make sure foal can stand and suckle, examine umbilicus, signs of prematurity, check meconium has been passed, ask about urination, look for congenital defects #vetfinals
@VetFinals Low albumin and globulin would indicate either low production (although most liver parameters are okay) or PLE rather than a PLN (would only see low albumin with PLN) #vetfinals
@VetFinals Yes (or enough to move right down ddx list) - ALT not significantly raised and other enzymes ok. Cholesterol is low but this would fit with poor appetite over the last week #vetfinals
