His title and powers and godhood were stripped at the beginning of God Of War 2. He became a demigod again.

People are shitting on the new God Of War game because "it's not a God Of War game if you don't play as the god of war".

But Kratos was only the god of war for the whole game in a single PSP game.
Most of the time you play as Kratos, he is not the god of war, just a demigod/god.

Ghost Of Sparta, the very end of 1, and the very beginning of 2 are the only moments he is the god of war.
