@solopribuilds It's not taking over every job, FFS.
In fact, the only jobs it can do is ones that can be 100 percent digital, like art generation.
It can't mow your lawn or change your tires or cook your lunch or anything else that requires a body.
Robots can't even walk up stairs yet.
@shinso45@its_The_Dr The amount of your taxes that goes into the pockets of people on social assistance is trivial.
The government spends more on pens.
And it's never as simple as "not wanting to work".
Have you ever wondered why such a tiny number of people take the "sweet deal" of welfare?
@chai_tterbox So coming up with the prompt for the GenAI is somehow not a creative act? Know what is worth drawing in the first place isn't creative?
All we're replacing is the mechanical art of drawing.
@Gurr2085 Oh god, me too. I just get... stuck like that. Sitting on the edge of the bed, staring off into space. Not in pain, not physically paralyzed, but nevertheless.... stuck.
Maybe this is what happens when being in "freeze" mode for too long catches up with you.
@TheKingsPofa There's a Law and Order like this.
It was a real gut punch the first time I saw it because it's completely out of nowhere. One moment normal, the next Michael Moriarity has brains on his face.
Not surprised it was based on real life.
@leftunsents How dare they not notice what I work so hard to conceal? But seriously, I know how lonely depression can be. The numbness cuts you off from the good things which feed the soul, like the love of your family and friends, and meaningful work. It's like you are stuck behind glass.
@Owennfa But it also puts powerful tools in the hands of ordinary people and thus empowers the masses.
The argument would make sense if the wealthy kept AI to themselves, but they don't. They can't.
Also, of course, 99 percent of jobs can't be replaced by AI at all.
I came across a Reddit post that described AI in a way I can’t stop thinking about:
“AI allows the wealthy to access skills while stripping skilled people of their ability to access wealth.”
I don’t think I’ve ever seen the purpose of AI captured so brutally and accurately.
