Best Breakaway Rider of the Tour de France
For me, this award clearly goes to Richard Carapaz.
He was undoubtedly the king of the breakaways at this Tour.
Carapaz won two mountain stages from the break and even beyond those victories, he was involved in a series of unforgettable attacks. His ride on the Alpe d'Huez stage was another perfect example an aggressive, fearless performance.
The third week, in particular, showed Carapaz at his very best. He looked like a completely different rider: stronger, more confident, and relentless in the mountains.
His attacking style earned him not only two stage victories, but also the King of the Mountains jersey and a place in the overall top 10 an outstanding return built largely through his breakaway efforts.
More than anyone else, Carapaz animated this Tour de France. He attacked whenever he had the opportunity, raced with courage, and never stopped entertaining.

Richard Carapaz wins the Super Combative prize. 🏆🇪🇨 Can't argue with that, he already attacked many times before the third week when it finally paid off. In my opinion, only Pogacar was stronger than him in the final week.

💪 🇪🇨 Richard Carapaz has been named the #TDF2026 Most Combative Rider. After combining the public vote with the jury’s individual votes, the Ecuadorian has been named, just as in 2024, the Tour de France’s Most Combative Rider with @century21fr!
Lamentable.
