Today I will be doing a virtual field trip for a bunch of first graders showing them and teaching them about the two bee hives my family keeps: a honey bee hive and a native bee hive. This is my second year doing this particular tour so hopefully it goes well!

Additional interesting note: I have found that garlic crushed with salt in a mortar works SO MUCH better then any of the antihistamine creams I’ve put on this sting. No idea why but I think it might have something to do with a cooling affect it’s having upon contact? 🤷‍♀️

Officially been stung by a bee twice. Given that we have had our bee hive for a year now I think that’s pretty good! Also now with two stings I can officially say that I have a pretty standard reaction (for now). Always a good thing to know when you have a hive!

Happy to announce that my #PRFB proposal has been recommended for funding! This work brings me back to NM to study the immune system of the Gila trout with @tsquareturner and @DrSalinasLab. I am thankful for this chance to work on a project I’ve been thinking about for so long!
