So sad to share news that @JVLaB, longtime independent and libertarian political hand who worked with @RonPaul, @GovGaryJohnson, @BillRedpath, Robert Sarvis, and many others, has died. John was @reason's first DC office manager for a spell and a boon companion who possessed the most detailed understanding of congressional districts I've ever seen. Never left a conversation with him without being immensely wiser and more knowledgeable about everything from politics to music.

POETIC JUSTICE!!! A Central Park Five member has taken out a full page ad on Trump 34 years after he called for them to be put to death!

Yusef Salaam, one of the exonerated teenagers, wrote that since Trump is “arrested and arraigned, here is my response:”

The ad goes:

“If the charges are proven and you are found guilty, I hope that you endure whatever penalties are imposed with the same strength and dignity that the Exonerated Five showed as we served our punishment for a crime we did not commit.”

In 1989, Trump famously took an ad to call for the punishment of five Black and Latino teenagers, who were wrongfully imprisoned for the rape of a white woman in New York’s Central Park that they did not commit.
