I am part of the Graduate Student Council for IU's Brain and Psychological Sciences Department. We are trying to get a grasp on the field level norms and expectations for qualifying exams in order to better advocate for students. Please comment on your quals experience! Thanks!
Friends who have done phds in psychology or neuroscience, could you help me with something? What did you have to do for your qualifying exam/comps/advancement to candidacy?
It's a strange experience when the last week of summer is loaded with the same degree of anxiety as a typical finals week. Almost done with qualifying exams!!
Looking forward to giving my first official conference talk at #CogSci2022 on Friday morning! Come check out what is bound to be an amazing oral talk session on education!
Qualifying exams is quite the process... almost done with paper 1 and my brain hurts!! Can't wait to do it all over again for paper 2, starting after the holiday weekend 🙃
Reviving academic twitter for #CDS2022! Stop by my poster on Friday (tomorrow) evening! “The effects of person vs. computer feedback of children’s motivation in mathematics” - poster number 2-H-36 during poster session #2 from 5:45-7:00pm. See you there!
Out in Child Dev! What counts as information in early learning? We show that children jointly consider others’ emotional expressions and prior knowledge when exploring a novel causal toy, providing further evidence for “emotion as information.” w/@hyogweon https://t.co/oNWTyDfVZv

Some people say grad school is a marathon, not a sprint. It's neither. It's not a race at all. It's about becoming part of - and contributing to - an intellectual and professional community.
Thank you to my advisor @FyfeEmily for taking so much time and care to guide me through my first grant attempt. I’m looking forward to applying for many more!
In honor of normalizing failure I would like to announce that I did not receive the #NSFGRFP! Receiving overwhelming positive reviews has only encouraged me to continue on with my research program focused on how differing sources of feedback affect STEM learning in children.
