@CousinAmygdala I very very rarely work weekends, I was encouraged to set healthy boundaries ie; work 7-8 hours a day. Iโve had a baby and taken maternity leave, I have one publication, and another in the works I have every confidence I will get my phd at the end of the yearโฆ
First week back working and got risk assessments coming out my ears to get back into the lab, great to streamline but considering Iโm a trained COSHH assessor they never get any less tedious. I just miss the lab! #HealthAndSafety
Returning to complete my PhD next week after 9 months maternity leave. My brain already hurts and the stress has already started ๐คฏ #phdchat#maternity
@lauriemcclain@malaconotus@LiamThorpECHO What scares you about the mRNA vaccine? As a molecular scientist maybe I can help with some of the worries you may have.
Really need to start getting my PhD brain on, Iโve sang the alphabet wrong one too many times to my 5 month old in my sleep deprived state ๐ด#newmum#phdlife
@PhDVoice Iโm Megan ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ my PhD is focusing on protein localisation and cellular membrane biosynthesis in Rhodococcus equi, as my interest lays in drug target identification.
I just had a baby 3 months ago so right now Iโm mum/ struggling baby brained scientist ๐๐ฅด
@MyBCU want to explain to me how my younger sister still DOES NOT have her degree results after her whole year have? Been emailing and calling and no one is helping. She wants to celebrate and we canโt, someone please reach out to resolve this because itโs actually ridiculous
@SkyNews@gerardtubb I think your report on Helmsley residents missed the mark completely, and quite clearly did not understand the concerns of the residents. You needed to speak to the worker in the local food shop or a volunteer for the vulnerable. #negativereporting
@LaurenSocha There is usually a number on the back of the packet that you can call, they will be able to help you with any queries regarding the drug itself!
@iveyseywhite @OpenAcademics For your introductory/ literature review chapter write out your subheadings as a skeleton to work through it section by section rather than one big chapter. Definitely eased the anxiety of it all once I saw it broken down.
You know itโs bad when youโre more nervous about the quality of your manuscript rather than giving birth for the first time in the next few weeks ๐ณ #phdlife#multitasking
Socialising unnecessarily increases the chances that youโll spread the virus to someone more vulnerable than you. OLD OR YOUNG.
That person could actually die.
You could be infected and not know it.
Itโs mad that youโd go and sit in the pub with your mates knowing this.
@NorthumbriaUni considering our research labs are closing down for the foreseeable could we not do our part and donate a number of nitrile gloves/ lab soap to our local nhs hospital to help with growing demand of PPE equipment? Not the norm but none of this is ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
I havenโt suffered depression during my PhD but crippling anxiety and stress beyond what I ever could have imagined, itโs so normal within the PhD community and there should be more done to alleviate these issues in every institute!
