Don’t say “This is not who we are” because it is.
Instead, ask: “is this who we want to be?”
One, it doesn’t cater to false American exceptionalism, and two, asking a question (rather than making a statement) forces us to reckon with what we *really* believe in.
All humans hold the capacity to do really terrible and really amazing things in the same life. Having empathy for someone is not the same as accepting or tolerating the awful things they’ve done. It’s not forgiveness. It’s simply acknowledging they are human.
Unpopular opinion (maybe?): a lot of the backlash to the peloton ad is based on the toxic idea that people only exercise to lose weight and there would be no other reason someone would want a peloton.
Sounds like she answered the implicit question being asked. People ask about taxes because they want to know if this will cost them; what difference does it make if they’re paying that cost in premiums and cost shares versus in taxes?
Elizabeth Warren again gets asked if Medicare for All would raise middle class taxes (Sanders has said it would); she again steers it to overall medical costs, saying they’d rise for rich people, fall for working families.
She has become an expert at dodging this question.
@mrlibrarydude Napping in the library was my favorite thing to do between classes in college. It was just what people did. Never thought it was an issue.
How many people were involved in those 500 deaths to medical errors? Did the same person cause 200 car accidents? 300 people caught the flu from the same person?
In the past 48hrs, the USA horrifically lost 34 people to mass shootings.
On average, across any 48hrs, we also lose…
500 to Medical errors
300 to the Flu
250 to Suicide
200 to Car Accidents
40 to Homicide via Handgun
Often our emotions respond more to spectacle than to data.
Has anyone freaking out about that Armie Hammer video ever MET a toddler? They are disgusting creatures who are obsessed with their own poop. That was tame.
@Goosehonkings @natecharny Also, there may be a 0 patient share policy for in network providers for services denied for medical necessity. I know a lot of bcbs policies do.
