Palestinian pediatrician, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, has spent 18 months in Israeli prisons without trial or charge. His lawyer reports his life is in immediate danger, following torture and poor treatment in prison.
He must be released immediately.

Bibi, look at the polls. Talk to some people (admittedly most Americans, by now, don’t want to talk to you). It’s not an “element” of this or that faction. People see what their tax dollars did in Gaza and they see the Iran war. You’ve completely overplayed Israel’s hand.
Netanyahu: It concerns me that there's that element of anti-Israel in the Democratic Party and the woke right. The people who hate Israel end up hating America. When those Americans who support Israel do demonstrations, they wave Israeli flag and they wave the American flag.
This is lame from Vance. A real leader would approach these criticisms with an “it’s a free country” attitude. Free country. Free speech. That’s the point. Right?
🇺🇸 JD Vance on the 250th:
"You will hear a couple small but loud voices today speak obsessively not of our national greatness, but of our national imperfections. THEY ARE WRONG."
He slammed the view that reduces America to the worst parts of its history, and said America is built by regular people, from Jefferson to welders like his grandfather, turning wilderness into the proudest civilization.

An unforeseen pleasure of this 250th anniversary of independence: Listening to British history podcasters retell some of our foundational stories with snippy asides, passive aggression, and verbal eye rolls. Negging George Washington. Etc.
That’s what winning sounds like.
So what temp is normal/acceptable for a summer thermostat?
Between the Mamdani discourse (78!), the Euro heat wave discourse (no ac at all!), and currently having both always-hot adolescents and an always-cold 80-something under the same roof, I am lost.
The immigration solution we *actually* need most right now is a Reagan-style amnesty (which gave legal status to 3 million people who’d been here for years) … but in these days of ICE and trying to revoke birthright citizenship that feels like the dark side of the moon.
Nothing goes directly to the heart of the U.S. experiment and each of our claim to this place quite like birthright citizenship.
It’s sobering that 3 justices voted against it, and that so many Americans with zero genetic/indigenous link to this land oppose it.
Maybe we need to rethink defining “moderates” as people who accept gobs of dirty money, protect predatory tech/insurance/pharmaceutical companies, embrace private equity expansion and monopolies and lean into every foreign war.
How is that moderate?
Rep. Pramila Jayapal: "Every time a moderate wins an election, people are like, 'That's the new blueprint for the Democratic party.' But if a progressive or a Democratic Socialist wins, 'Oh, the whole party's falling to hell in a handbasket.' I think we've got to rethink that."
I guess it matches the not-reflective-reflecting pool and half-smashed White House so that’s good.
I’m leaning into the city illustrating our national moment of “having some struggles but we’ll regroup.”
