BMC’s 12 year effort to reclaim Meghwadi has concluded. Less spoken about are the 90+ years caretaker families spent protecting and preserving this land.

बृहन्मुंबई महानगरपालिकेच्या एफ (दक्षिण) विभागाच्या वतीने करण्यात आलेल्या धडक कारवाईत मेघवाडी, लालबाग, परळ परिसरातील शाळा व मनोरंजन मैदानासाठी आरक्षित असलेल्या भूखंडावरील ७ बांधकामांचे निष्कासन करण्यात आले. अतिरिक्त महानगरपालिका आयुक्त (शहर) डॉ. (श्रीमती) अश्विनी जोशी यांच्या निर्देशांनुसार ही कारवाई करण्यात आली.

या एकूण भूखंडाचे क्षेत्रफळ ७ हजार ८७२.१४ चौरस मीटर इतके आहे. पैकी सुमारे २७४ चौरस मीटर क्षेत्रफळावर १३ रिक्त भूखंडधारक भाडेकरू वास्तव्यास होते. हा भूखंड मोकळा करण्यासाठी मागील १२ वर्षांपासून प्रयत्न सुरू होते. या कारवाईमुळे, मेघवाडी, लालबाग, परळ आणि काळाचौकी परिसरातील सुमारे ५० हजारांहून अधिक नागरिकांसाठी मनोरंजन मैदान खुले होईल.

उपआयुक्त (परिमंडळ २) श्री. प्रशांत सपकाळे यांच्या मार्गदर्शनात, सहायक आयुक्त (एफ दक्षिण विभाग) श्रीमती वृषाली इंगुले यांच्या नेतृत्वात ही कारवाई करण्यात आली.

A JCB is moving towards our structure area. No fresh written order, no clarity on Structure 3/118, and a High Court hearing is scheduled on 3 July.

Families are simply asking: where is due process and humanity ?

Today, it feels like just our families standing together against an entire system. No crowds, no support, just residents trying to protect their homes, rights and dignity.

We continue to hope for compassion, due process and a fair hearing.
