But the part most people miss is this:

Some interesting facts. During the Japanese Occupation, Malaysia was force to adjust into GMT +9 (Tokyo time). Post war, the time was reverted back to GMT +7:30. Not GMT+7, so we were 30 minutes ahead of Indonesia and 30 minutes behind East Malaysia.

This is very interesting topic to discuss.

(1) If we were to moved back to GMT +7, we would have more time in the morning and lesser time to spend in the evening. This would mean sunrise would be at 6am and sunset would be at 6pm.

Not a fan of PAS, but this is the right thing to do. Malaysia’s time is a bit off from what it naturally should be after Tun M decided to move us to GMT +8. Because of that, our mornings starts earlier than the sun, and we feel like we’re always rushing.

(3) Switching to GMT +7 would also create 1 hour time difference between Peninsular and East Malaysia. This would disrupt businesses that operates in both regions and would lead to major confusion for the public.
