#Publichealth experts say the expansion of #Title42 “undermines the principle of non-discrimination that is foundational to public health and a bedrock of human rights and refugee law.”

@rtvilit @neekstweets @theovareli @AKayumAhmed1#P8607 I had similar thoughts to these throughout the reading! Perhaps the PH principles be reworked to include a decolonizing lens, and that it be done by those in communities the principles intend to serve? Although, I think the issue of coercion still stands.
@AKayumAhmed1#P8607 Those who uphold the law do so"..with the clear conscience of an upholder of the peace; yet he is the bringer of violence.." The oppressor enacts violence disguised as order. Violence must challenge violence, as there is no orderly decolonization under a repressive system.
@Emmitwo@sns2188@AKayumAhmed1#P8607 This is a great idea! Tik Tok is such a influential social media platform at the moment and could be utilized to ensure a wide variety of people are exposed to creative advocacy tactics, whether its music or other mediums.
@AKayumAhmed1#P8607 Art, music, poetry, etc., are all creative mediums used for expression. They have the power to reach people on a deeper emotional level and tell stories. Advocacy groups can use such tactics to connect people to their issue and build a strong connection with communities.
@EmmaWarshaw @AKayumAhmed1@Columbia@usnews@nytimes#P8607 I completely agree! Students hold the most power in their ability to circulate existing issues at Columbia in the press. The university would be sure to respond to student concerns in order to avoid more negative press.
@AKayumAhmed1@Columbia@usnews@nytimes Students can use this opportunity to stress their own concerns, such as healthcare access on campus. In an effort to avoid more negative press, or even a further drop in ranking, Columbia may be more responsive to addressing such concerns in a timely manner. #P8607
@AKayumAhmed1 The perspective of natural scholars establishes and reinforces the idea that HR are universal and belong to everyone. The prospective of protest scholars assists in furthering the HR agenda by defending those who experience injustice. Therefore, they complement each other #P8607
The resilience of those forced to flee their homes inspires me each and every day. But the resilience of displaced children is unmatched.
They have so much potential and we must all work for a world where they can thrive. #WorldChildrensDay

"and if it doesn't represent people's voices, and if it's not coming from a point of justice, of starting to really level out and push out things like racism and colonialism and imperialism... our work is always going to fall short" - Shinichi Daimyo of @ProjectHOME
This conversation on #Ethics and the #FutureofMH is critical! "If there's anything that i've learned is that we can come up with many fancy frameworks and reference different papers but at the very end of the day, if it's not helping people..." 1/2
