So much of the media coverage of Abdul El-Sayed vs Haley Stevens emphasizes Israel policy in the context of how it makes American Jews feel.

What about how it makes Arab Americans feel?

We spend our entire lives watching our native countries and relatives get bombed, occupied and dragged through the racist mud by elected officials and media. And then we’re smeared in the U.S. as bigots for opposing it.

If Abdul wins, it will be a watershed moment for Arab Americans. To have a U.S. senator who makes challenging the machinery that enables and justifies genocide in the Middle East a central part of his politics goes beyond mere representation. This guy is willing to confront the system that has murdered and dehumanized our communities for generations. Feels big.

@azd_djzr If they reform the education system and eased the rules about investing or capital flows, even still limiting foreigners but making it easy for Algerians, it’d go a long long way.

Their regulations strangle organic growth too, all in the fear of never letting foreigners meddle.
