Dr. Mahrang Baloch has been unlawfully detained since her ‘arrest’ on 22 March. When the illegal MPO order under which she is detained was challenged before the Balochistan High Court, instead of setting aside the detention order and directing Dr. Mahrang’s release, the Court left her at the mercy of the executive, which had no cogent reason to detain her in the first place.

As expected, the MPO order was extended and the same was challenged before the High Court, which reserved its Judgment on 13 May and has yet to announce its order.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other BYC leaders remain incarcerated without any legal justification. The silence of mainstream media on this is pathetic and cowardly.

Dr. Mahrang Baloch and all illegally detained BYC leaders must be immediately released. Each day of their unjustified incarceration pushes the people of Balochistan even further away from Pakistan.
