Turkish Super Lig team Konyaspor and the Palestine national team drew 2-2 in a solidarity friendly on Wednesday.
The match, held at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Stadium, attracted thousands of fans, all gathered under the motto “Our home is your home.”
Hundreds of toys were thrown onto the pitch during a solidarity match between Türkiye’s Konyaspor and Palestine’s national team.
The match in Konya featured tributes to Palestinian athletes killed since October 2023 and stopped at 89:59 with an announcement that the game would resume when “Palestine is free.”

More than just a friendly match…
Turkish Konyaspor club fans welcomed the Palestine reserve national team with a moving display in support of Gaza and in tribute to Palestinian journalists, athletes, and children killed in Gaza.
The match ended 2-2, but at exactly 89:59, one second before the 90th minute, the game was deliberately stopped.
The big screen displayed:
“This match has been postponed until Palestine is liberated.”

Konyaspor et la sélection palestinienne ont fait match nul (2-2), mercredi à Konya, lors d'une rencontre amicale organisée dans le cadre de la « Journée de la Palestine ». La soirée, suivie par quelque 42 000 spectateurs, a également été marquée par plusieurs hommages aux victimes de la guerre à Gaza.

Tifos were unveiled featuring 1014 athletes and journalists killed by the occupation forces in Gaza, along with an image of Muḥammad al-Durrah who was killed 26 years ago, and “Soul of my soul” Reem with her grandfather Khaled Nabhan.
Before the game started, supporters threw toys onto the pitch which were intended to go to Palestinian children.
The game was postponed at the 89th minute and 59th second of normal game time, as a symbolic gesture, that the game will not end until Palestine is free.
