In the days and weeks after October 7, people in this central Tel Aviv neighborhood started bringing framed photographs of the dead and missing and placing them around the fountain, alongside candles and letters.

As soldiers fell in the war that followed, their photographs were added too. Friends of the dead would come and hold vigils.

A spontaneous and improvised memorial, with no planning committee and no architect.

Many want the photographs removed; it is, after all, a messy eyesore. But this is surely the best and most real possible memorial to Israel's blackest day and the heroic war that followed. It is the most Israeli and authentic memorial imaginable.

No committee will ever be able to recreate or match the deeply felt pain that it captures.

Haha. I call it a bluff. The sanctions never worked because there was never the determination to enforce them and inflict pain on China for bypassing them… the moment pressure gets serious, China/UAE will abandon the regime. It isn’t worth it for them.
