In USA, one of the leaders in the AI race, Sanders and AOC just proposed a law that could freeze the servers your AI tools run on. 🛑

The Artificial Intelligence Data Center Moratorium Act would halt construction of any new AI data center drawing more than 20 megawatts of power until Congress writes rules on workers, electricity costs, and the environment. For context: 20 megawatts powers roughly 15,000 homes, and most modern AI facilities blow past that before lunch.

ChatGPT, Google Search, and every AI tool you touched today runs on physical data centers exactly like these. If new ones can't be built, capacity growth slows, and slower capacity means higher computing prices for every business renting it. 💰

I've been following how AI compute demand scales, and the gap between how fast demand grows and how slowly infrastructure gets approved is already brutal. A federal freeze would make that gap permanent.

Here's the twist: nearly 46% of respondents in a TechCrunch-cited poll opposed having a data center in their own community. Real people who pay local electricity rates and never got a vote. ⚡
