Encourage: it is not a soft, fluffy word that means “to say what someone wants to hear.” It means that you use your words to provide someone with the courage they need to accomplish a goal or task. It is almost as if our words have potentially kinetic, life-changing energy.
@RogersHistory I’m working a 9-5 now at a gymnastics facility. I have so much more time for my family now even while working during the summer. It’s kinda sad in a way.
This is a list for a friend! She has worked hard to get her Master’s degree and is now going to be an elementary counselor. In honor of all of the counselors who have helped my kids and your kids, would you share or sprinkle Annie?

I was given a card by a coworker today that confirmed once again that I’m where I’m supposed to be right now. I also share this to say, if someone encourages you or makes a difference in your life, tell them.
💕
@LMS_Maestra @heymrsbond I cannot tell you how much I’ve healed since November.
I’m working at a gymnastics facility now, and I cannot believe how many people it takes to split the workload equivalent that one teacher has in the classroom.
My kids have been a little whiny the last few months when I have stayed after work for adult tumbling. We made a breakthrough today!
“I’ll be home after adult tumble tonight. Bye!”
“Bye, mom! Have fun!”
“Oh, you’re doing that tonight? Cool!”
Love it. Love them.
@alicekeeler Some places won’t hire until January when a teacher leaves so that they don’t have to count that year for that teacher as “one year of experience.”
@mrmichaelswift I found a job working at a gymnastics facility. I love it. My skills in the classroom translate well, and I have potential for growth within the company without having to stop being around the kids and families.
@wenDtexas @DrBradJohnson I went back to my roots and work at a gymnastics center. I’m loving it, and my skills from the classroom translate well to running the front desk. For my personality and skill set, I was looking for receptionist type positions.
@jacobjamesgeog@bill_summer I left at the end of October. I’ve been at my job for six months now, and I second all of your points. My family is benefiting immensely!
Hey, #teachertwitter!
Just a little background, Stephanie has been walking the education walk since I met her in college. I’ve already read her first book, and I can’t wait to read this one!
Her books are for anyone in any field who wants to see kids succeed.
In 2018, more teachers left the profession than any other year prior.
A year later, 2019, that number was surpassed.
In 2020, that record was again surpassed.
In 2021, AGAIN.
It’s rarely spoken of as the emergency it is. Teaching is simply an unsustainable career for many.
One of my memories from teaching:
“We were learning about factor trees yesterday, and I picked a large, random number for us to factor. We didn’t get very far because we found that 3,163 is a prime number.
PS Divisibility rules are cool.”
