It's Juneteenth which means it's an excellent time to donate to a Black centered org and contact your representatives about closing the slavery loophole in the 13th amendment.
Question.
Did any of y’all go to a High School that had a decent sized Black population, along with a decent sized White population, where the Black kids didn’t sit in their own area?
I feel like every HS I’ve ever known of that was mixed was essentially self segregated.
@philiphiggins_1@Pearl_Amsterdam @CaseyKulla @heatherbirtcher I wish they had led with liability and costs for management. I am upset that there was so much anti homeless fear mongering. I really don't think that was necessary. The context gathering for that transfer was a *ride.*
@ElaineKoskela @WasatchBack1 The letter made my neurospicy all tingly. Did the land in question still belong to the Austins? I have a lot of gaps in my knowledge here 😞
Newberg. This platform isn't exactly what it used to be but I'm a bit curious about what looks like our school district trying to give (sell?) school-owned land to the neighboring church.
@DerekDuff And that's valid. I have a high opinion of the church and people who go there. But I still believe that public school land and resources should be used in ways that can benefit all students and can be held accountable to the public.
@DerekDuff @acyoung321 I get that but my big concern is that churches do not have the same public responsibilities or oversight or expectations of inclusivity.
@acyoung321 1 acre is a considerable amount of space! Enough space for a STEAM focused maker space, additional classrooms, ecology and climate science study or even a better MU space..
@acyoung321 I heard a rumor and so I went looking. Still have a lot of questions. My "first thought" so far is likely a bit far from my "best thought" on this... But that packet 😬😭
My kids will be going to the school in question and with over 90 acres of residential development happening over the next 5 years.. I'm worried that this is really short sighted.
Today we celebrate victory! For our community. For my children. And for yours.
I am grateful and humbled by the confidence the Newberg & Dundee voters have placed in me by electing me to the school board. I am proud of the campaign we ran, focused on real issues that need

Would like to remind my nine followers that you are enough and that elections in Newberg have been decided with fewer votes. Your vote could actually be *the one* that decides what happens next. We need you.
This week is teacher appreciation week and if you live in #Newberg, you can show you appreciate our educators by voting (early AND strategically!) for the FIVE union-endorsed candidates for school board.
