Fab time with @ReadingBioSci biodiversity field course @FSCSlaptonLey. Lots of lovely insects to be seen... Favourite find of the week was this absolute beauty: Chlaenius vestitus ๐

If anybody sees a used red Carrera Intercity folding bike for sale, please check to see whether it might be mine! Unfortunately I'm not sensible enough to have a record of the frame number but it has some quirks. https://t.co/YgrleQcp6p via @stolenbikes_uk
I've been a busy beetle this morning identifying #Chrysomelidae and managed to snap a few semi-decent pics... I'm always amazed at how differently their colours appear using a light disperser - these all looked uniformly black to the naked eye! #Coleoptera
Lots of people asking us about #bumblebees at the moment - why theyโre seeing them on the ground - so hereโs a quick thread to explain what theyโre up to. Please share as every #queen that survives means a new colony that gets to exist & produce new queen #bees for next year! 1/7
