The final results are in and I’m excited to announce that I have won my race for 10th District State Central Committeeperson. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in this race. I’m energized and ready to get to work to strengthen our party at home and across the state.
We are shocked, saddened, and, frankly, outraged, to hear about this horrendous tragedy, which has become all too common. Our hearts are with the families, friends and community as we await together information about this developing situation.
JUST IN: The Highland Park Fourth of July parade was suddenly halted when shots were fired about 10 minutes after the parade kicked off at 10 a.m. Monday, sending hundreds of people running for safety. https://t.co/qNB7Ac1jRG
Environment is a top priority for me—from pushing for #EnvironmentalJustice to defending climate & equitable jobs to standing up for communities affected by toxic coal ash, I’m committed to living up to the title of an @ilenviro#GreenChampion 🏆🍃 I am proud of my 100% score!
Thank you so much to the @LgbtqCenterLC for hosting the Pride Fest! 🏳️🌈
“It takes no compromise to give people their rights...it takes no money to respect the individual. It takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression.” -Harvey Milk
What a great night at @mchenrydems’ annual Thomas Jefferson Dinner! So encouraging to see a sold-out event with a strong showing of Democrats. We need to take inspiration from this organization and how they’re able to mobilize, fundraise, and lift our party.
Thanks to everyone who came out to the 5K this morning…for the first time the 5K was sold out! Your participation assures that @ASafePlace2 can continue to serve and empower domestic violence and human traffic survivors. I’m proud to be a member of A Safe Place Board.
While I am comforted today knowing that women’s rights remain strong in Illinois, I have grave concerns about the infringement of rights taking place on the national stage right now. Let’s continue to support our local reproductive care facilities and serve as a national leader.
The SCOTUS decision is as appalling as it is dangerous. Overturning Roe does not end abortion; it ends safe abortion. And let’s be clear: what is at stake here today is not just reproductive rights, but the very fabric of our country’s constitutional order.
The Supreme Court’s GOP majority has made it clear that dismantling Roe v. Wade is only step one. But their power is not absolute.
Now more than ever, we must turn anger into action to protect women’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights, and any others that may come under attack.
Thank you to the Daily Herald for featuring the hard, ongoing work being done on the Environment and Conservation Committee! Read more from me and other climate activists in Friday’s cover story. https://t.co/vxu5PZFc3O
8yrs as Chair of the Environment and Conservation Committee has taught me that there is no one solution to the climate crisis. The decades to come require a broad & diverse coalition of people, ideas, & innovation. Together, we can ensure a livable future for generations to come!
It’s 4/20! I’m proud to be a state Senator when IL became the 11th U.S. state to legalize recreational marijuana. Legalization and expungement are critical elements of both racial and economic justice. We all have more work to do, but I hope to see more states follow IL’s lead 🔜
I encourage voters to join me in supporting @MaryforIL in her race for State Senate. I’m confident she will be the strong leader and champion our community needs.
As many of you may already know, I will not be seeking re-election for State Senate. Serving the residents of District 31 for the last 9 years has been the honor of my life, and I’m incredibly proud of the work we’ve done to move Illinois forward.
I believe this work will be furthered and strengthened by Mary Edly-Allen. I’ve had the pleasure of working with Mary during her time in the Illinois House and have witnessed first-hand the kind of fighter she is.
