“You and I are told we must choose between a left or right, but I suggest there is no such thing as a left or right. There is only an up or down..” - Ronald Reagan
@sjh112233@varrock Yep, I was told it’s not a necessity… now most hearing aid brands have warranties now, for 5 years I believe. Specially for kids. But to replace its $800. I have a child born with hearing loss. Feel free to message me if you need any help navigating some of the systems.
@higgsyxh@varrock They’re not affordable now. Hence needing insurance to cover them. Insurance doesn’t cover them as they state it’s not a necessity. Hearing aids for kids are $2,000-3,000 per hearing aid and many need 2. And guess what insurance covers for adults in many cases.
In 2023 Newsom was given a bill to sign that would have required private insurers to cover hearing aids for children. Many other states require insurers to cover them.
According to NY Post, Newsom vetoed the bill and decided instead to have the state provide the hearing aids. The result was $23 million spent on hearing aids for 300 people. About $76,000 a person. About 20,000 children in CA still need hearing aids.
Well done Gavin.
@BradleyMines@GovPressOffice I’m not right by any means and a Californian. Demonize? You mean tell the truth that we are number 1 in poverty, homelessness, not being business friendly, illiteracy, taxes…
BREAKING:
California's government may have more money than projected after Gov. Newsom's admin made a $2 billion budget accounting error in January.
State lawmakers knew for months but didn't make it public.
We found out through a leaked memo today:

@CAgovernor Homelessness rose every year during your time as Governor. The 9% drop you cite is based off of one data point (point in time count) which is widely regarded as inaccurate. And, that 9% cost the state $2.5 billion for the FY ending in June, 2025. Facts matter.
