Ethiopia’s democratic transition goes beyond periodic elections and stands as vital example of democratic progress in Africa. It is anchored in a strong constitutional and peaceful order, inclusive national dialogue, public trust in institutions and sustained civic participation.

The Technical Committee established to transform the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Corridor into a comprehensive economic and prosperity corridor today held its third round of discussions on the proposed development plan.
The Committee, comprising representatives of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Corporation, relevant government institutions, and the Chinese side, has been conducting a series of technical consultations and field assessments to identify the key measures required to transform the railway corridor into a multi-sector development corridor.
On the occasion, Ambassador Dewano Kedir, Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs, noted that Ethiopia and China have been engaged in continuous technical consultations to advance the initiative. He said the project reflects the growing Ethio-China partnership and serves as a symbol of strengthened cooperation under the framework of China-Africa cooperation and the Belt and Road Initiative.
Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai said the Ethio-Djibouti Railway project stands as a model of development cooperation between the two countries. He reaffirmed China's continued support for the project and its commitment to expanding cooperation with Ethiopia in the fields of transportation, mining, industry, and logistics.
During the meeting, the Ethiopian side presented its development plan for upgrading the railway corridor into a multi-sector prosperity corridor, focusing on maximizing its economic potential.
According to the discussions and presentations, the project is expected to strengthen trade links between Ethiopia and Djibouti, reduce logistics costs, improve railway services, expand freight and passenger transport capacity, enhance the logistics system, facilitate trade, and promote greater regional economic integration in the Horn of Africa.

"We must seize this broad national opportunity to move beyond past cycles of accusation and engage in constructive dialogue. We will preserve the Constitution's positive values while amending provisions that require reform in a way that harms no one, respects everyone's rights, and strengthens our unity. The key point is that this dialogue is not merely about correcting the mistakes of a temporary ruling party. Rather, it is about resolving the deep-rooted national challenges that have accumulated over generations and forging a new social contract for a new Ethiopia. This dialogue, through discussion, consultation, and mutual trust, is the only way to provide a lasting answer to the historic question of how we can live together."

Great analysis in @HornReview on US interests in Eritrea and likelihood of Isaias regime engaging. I fully agree that best U.S. policy is to plan on how to deal with a post Isaias Eritrea to include contacts with forces opposed to current regime like EBRF https://t.co/EYz4ZLYV2V
