#dandarostreets A Zimbabwean woman has shared the heartbreaking ordeal of fleeing xenophobic violence in South Africa with only her children and a single bag, leaving behind everything she had worked for.
She says her landlord later told her via WhatsApp that all the furniture, beds, TVs, stove and other belongings she had left in her two-room home had been looted, leaving her with nothing.

Zimbabwe beat Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs to record their biggest-ever Test victory 🙌
It's the first time Zimbabwe have recorded back-to-back innings victories in Test cricket, having defeated Afghanistan by an innings and 73 runs in their last series
It is profoundly heartbreaking to witness another surge of xenophobic violence in #SouthAfrica this week. Hundreds have marched on Parliament, thousands of families have been displaced, and lives have been tragically cut short.
These include at least five Ethiopians killed earlier in the attacks, and five Mozambicans who died in Mossel Bay. Thousands more are now fleeing for their lives.
To see South Africa turn to xenophobia is a tragic betrayal of the country's struggle for independence and freedom. African nations stood united to dismantle apartheid. Ethiopia proudly supported "Madiba," Nelson Mandela, in 1962 and issued him a passport so he could travel the continent. Other countries helped in many ways, including with political and financial support.
Disagreements and grievances must be addressed by the justice system and the rule of law, never through vigilante violence and collective punishment.
South Africa deserves better. Africa deserves better.
Stop the hate. Protect the vulnerable. Uphold our shared humanity.
The released suspect exposed the truth, which means this official @SABCNews brief was nothing but a scripted cover up. @RSA_IPID Acting National Commissioner Puleng Dimpane and WC Commissioner Patekile must answer for lying to the nation about Nhlamulo Sambo's murder.
A mother said her son was killed because he was Tsonga. The world doubted her. Grief + suspicion is a cruel combination.
Now new reports say: He was attacked by a mob. He ran into a shack for shelter. He took his last breath there. The owner allegedly called for help with others. The suspect has been released.
If the police narrative was wrong, then we owe that mother more than an apology. We owe her the truth. Full truth. No spin.
Nhlamulo was not a statistic. He was a son. He spoke Tsonga. He ran for his life. He died for being a Tsonga.
Whether he was killed by hate for his language, his origin, or his presence — the result is the same: A mother buries her child.
South Africa, we cannot keep burying our sons and calling it “crime”. When a man is chased because of how he speaks, that is xenophobia. And xenophobia is a fire we all get burned by.
To Gogo Sambo: Your tears were not lies. A mother’s voice matters. We see you. We stand with you.
To Nhlamulo: Lala ngoxolo mfo. May your name force this country to look in the mirror.
Justice is not revenge. Justice is truth + accountability.

Never be scared of dominant public opinion. We have been here many times before with; Abortion, Corporal Punishment, GBV, women’s equality, Homosexuality and tribalism.
But logic, justice & the power of truth always wins.
Xenophobia will not win! Love, Law & Order will!
Came on, felt the energy straight away. Days like this at Old Trafford mean everything. We fought till the end and got the win 🔴💪🏽
3-2. That’s the standard. We keep pushing.
