Nobody enjoyed the destruction of Epcot all through the 90s and early 2000s. I dont recall ever hearing an adult look forward to test track or mission space. People rejected that stuff too, it’s just been around long enough now that a lot of people have finally accepted the loss.
Nah. People massively underestimate how long this has gone on. I am 30 years old and I was quite literally raised to distrust Disney parks. One of my earliest sentient Disney memories is being lifted up to peek over the walls of 20k leagues while my father lamented it below me
…and I don’t ever remember a time that he didn’t wish I could have had a better Disney parks experience. This has gone on forever. This is not an internet phenomenon, this is a legacy company known for excellent service and product, dying a slow death of a million cuts.
And so the cycle continues. These photos become absorbed into the backrooms/liminal ethos of the internet. Now, the backrooms begins to remember itself.
@WinslowDumaine This is incredible. I ran a series of remote immersive shows with neighboring themes and aesthetics to this project. I will be reaching out for play testing and possibly modeling! I am enthralled to have been algorithmically brought to your work ✨
@AaronMcMahon That’s nice. Disney lost me almost a decade ago, so it doesn’t matter what I think beyond my little bubble, I just tweet for funsies and friends. Don’t worry, you don’t need to teach me a lesson! I have no interest in changing my opinions 😊
Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress is headed towards a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow ✨ You'll get to see John, Sarah and the whole family experience new decades, when the attraction is updated at Disney World in 2027 🗓️https://t.co/pRz5KCMqy8
Disney has virtually no modern identity. Instead of creating one, which is a difficult task, they’ve opted to simply expunge all memory of the old identity. This will not work forever. Someday you have to ask “who are we?” Not “oh, well we aren’t THAT”
My husband took us across the bridge and through the tunnel on our first date. I’ve asked to cruise through it innumerable times since. Someday soon I will miss the Layton bridge but we will always have a tik tok from the first date and a wojak 5 years into matrimony ♥️
Layton Bridge and Tunnel, Layton Pennsylvania.
Featured in The Silence of the Lambs, the exterior location for Buffalo Bills house is on the other side of the river (and is a rentable Airbnb)
We have come here many times together, but she doesn’t seem long for this world.
Also worth noting that the connected tunnel is a thing of local urban legend. In 1960 a 1 ton boulder disconnected itself from the ceiling of the tunnel and crushed a car driving below. This story has been embellished and passed around the area ever since.
