Madam Prime Minister, with respect, I think many people are missing each other right now.
From what I saw, this young lady was trying to express concern about something she believed was wrong. Whether people agree with her or not,
LAWLESSNESS: ZERO TOLERANCE
The PNM's promotion of lawlessness, hostility towards law enforcement, racist invective, criminal gang propaganda and mob intimidation tactics seriously endangers the safety and security of law-abiding citizens.
Today, criminal elements, their enablers and sections of the PNM hierarchy continue to foment contempt, hostility, violent rhetoric and racist invective against law enforcement officers, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and law-abiding citizens.
It appears that the PNM and those who seek to defend criminal gangs are doing everything possible to incite hostility towards law enforcement in the hope that it results in violence against police officers and prosecutors.
Will they be satisfied if TTPS officers and prosecutorial officials are gunned down in our streets?
The PNM's attempts to normalise racist invective, criminal behaviour and hostility towards law enforcement seek to create nationally the same destructive mindset that allowed violent criminal gangs to gain influence and control in communities across the country.
The unfortunate reality is that Trinidad and Tobago descended into criminality and disorder because too many law-abiding citizens were fearful of confronting political opportunists, racial provocateurs and criminal grifters.
These individuals promoted false narratives against law enforcement, allowing criminal elements to operate with boldness while ordinary citizens lived in fear.
The very people who excuse criminality and disregard for the rule of law are the ones shouting the loudest in performative outrage, race-baiting, publicity-seeking and political theatrics.
My Government will always stand firmly with our protective services. We will ensure that law enforcement officers and prosecutorial officials are respected, protected and valued, while lawbreakers are never glorified, excused or encouraged.
Attempts to intimidate, harass or interfere with the Director of Public Prosecutions and members of his staff will not be tolerated.
We must also remember the tragic case of special State prosecutor Randall Hector, who was gunned down in front of his family in December 2024 while prosecuting a known gang leader.
I commend the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service (TTPS) for moving swiftly to secure the Office of the DPP yesterday and for protecting its staff from intimidation, harassment and potential harm.
that their concerns are being heard, and that there is room for respectful disagreement without everything becoming political.
I love Trinidad and Tobago. That is why this situation makes me sad.
And Madam Prime Minister, Im saying this very respectfully, you guys don’t need influencers, what’s need is a proper public relations person, because the way this is being handled is very distasteful.
@PM_Kamla
This thing with the young lady being arrested for protesting really isn’t sitting right with me
As someone who has protested before, it’s painful to see what feels like someone being detained for using their voice.
Is this the direction we moving in here in Trinidad and Tobago?
cutting people off feels different now. it’s not anger, it’s grief. like dang… I really wanted you here, but your actions showed me I’m not safe with you.
