Dolly Parton and Carl Dean quietly eloped to Ringgold, Georgia, on May 30, 1966. At the time, Dollyโs music career was beginning to take off, and Fred Foster, the head of Monument Records, had asked her to postpone marriage for a year so she could focus on her career.
Dolly had other plans. Determined to marry Carl without creating a stir or having the wedding announced in her local Tennessee papers, the couple slipped across the state line into Georgia and said โI do.โ
She may have honored her career commitmentsโbut she wasnโt about to put the love of her life on hold. โค๏ธ
It was revealed that Dolly Parton was secretly battling cancer but she didn't say anything and instead released this song as one of her last to raise funds for children with cancer. Even while she was sick she was still thinking about others. Iโm absolutely devastated.
If there was ever an Angel that walked God's earth, it would definitely be you. Thank you for everything: your voice, your music, your laughter, your kindness, your giving heart! I will always love you too! I thank Jesus for sharing his beautiful angel with us.

Dolly Parton explains how Elvis Presley missed out on recording โI Will Always Love You,โ and how wonderful it was to be later revived by Whitney Houston.
Dolly is the classiest artist weโll ever see.
We will always love YOU! RIP ๐๏ธ
Dolly Parton accomplished something fame almost never allows:
She became an American icon without becoming unrecognizable.
The bigger the star got, the more she seemed to remember exactly where she came from. Faith, family, Tennessee, generosity, humor and one unmistakable voice.
Millions knew the superstar.
Somehow, she always made you feel like you knew Dolly.
