Having had the absolute pleasure of meeting Ike and him sharing his story with our pupils we renamed our humanities building, the Alterman building, and built our curriculum around his story. The impact he has had is immense.

𝐌𝐚𝐳𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐯 𝐈𝐤𝐞!

Everyone at The Fed is absolutely delighted that the incredible & inspirational Ike Alterman - a Fed My Voice Storyteller & Windermere Boy - has been awarded a British Empire Medal (BEM) in the Kings Birthday Honours list for services to Holocaust Remembrance & Education.

Speaking about receiving his British Empire Medal, Ike said, "I am incredibly proud that His Majesty King Charles has awarded me this fantastic honour in recognition of the work I undertake in Holocaust education & remembrance. At the age of 95 I am as committed as ever to continue this crucial work with people of all ages."

Raphi Bloom & Juliette Pearce of The Fed, who nominated Ike for his award, said “We are delighted and proud that Ike has been recognised by His Majesty The King for his indefatigable work in the field of Holocaust education & awareness over the past 5 years. We see at first hand through The Fed’s My Voice project just how much effort he puts into this work and the immense impact he has on thousands of people of all ages by sharing his life story. Continuing to do this at the age of 95 makes it even more incredible. Mazal Tov Ike!”
