NBA Commissioner Adam Silver issued the following statement today regarding the passing of Memphis Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke:
“We are devastated to learn of the passing of Brandon Clarke. As one of the longest-tenured members of the Grizzlies, Brandon was a beloved teammate and leader who played the game with enormous passion and grit. Our thoughts and sympathies are with Brandon’s family, friends and the Grizzlies organization.”
On this day in 2011, the No. 8 seed Memphis Grizzlies defeated the No. 1 seed San Antonio Spurs 101-98 in Game 1 of Round 1 to claim the franchise's first-ever playoff victory.

LeBron (and his peers) trashing Memphis to his golf bros is corny. The city deserves better from these brothers. I want yall to hear every word of this.

Hear all the Memphis madness we got into during our trip to NYC last month. It all airs on @tunein today - noon CT.
To all hoopers or professional athletes… these teams are not loyal to you, they’re loyal to the moment, so always do what’s best for you and your career
Many people that could or should be in that type of job have to many times carve their own path to figure it out. Many never get to do their work at the highest level professionally because of this. It’s time for real evaluation, conversation, & change to happen in this space.
Not just social teams, Most staffs for most teams in sports look like this (excluding coaching staffs). The people that talk about them, talk to them, promote them, try to relate to them to find ways to market them to sell their product don’t share the same background & culture.
But when I look across the industry I look at the people in the positions that would be fit for a person similar to me, I rarely see those people in those actual positions. And not just black people I mean people who a called to the work for real!
