The Spartans logged dozens of matches, multiple podium finishes, and a narrow one-point dual-meet win in a 12-school field.
The Spartans opened the stretch Monday and Tuesday at the Pac Coast Wrestling Tournament at the Clark County Events Center near Vancouver, one of the largest tournaments they will see this season.
Memphys Ellis fought through the heavyweight bracket to place seventh, picking up multiple wins by fall and decision along the way. Logan MacEwan put together an early run at 138 pounds with three straight wins, including two pins, while Dawson McDaniel advanced with both a fall and a technical fall at 150. Jesse Prouty added two consolation-round wins by pin at 157, highlighting a group effort in a deep, multi-day event.
Stanwood followed with strong individual performances at the 11-school Spud Walley tournament later in the week. Ellis broke through for a first-place finish in his weight class, Soren Andersen earned second place, and McDaniel added a fourth-place finish.
The week concluded at the Paul Reiman Wrestling Tournament in Mount Vernon, where 12 schools competed in a team-format event. Stanwood wrestled six duals and finished 1-5, closing the day with a dramatic 42-41 win over Blaine. In that final dual, Tomas Rocha secured a key pin at 144 pounds, Andersen delivered a lightning-fast pin at 150, and Ellis capped the match with a pin at 285 to seal the one-point victory.
Ellis finished the Paul Reiman tournament undefeated, while Andersen was dominant throughout the day, winning all six of his matches by pin.
