My intrepid daughter is finally in Reykjavik, after overnight diversion to Amsterdam. She planned her stay with online info and reviews from lone female travellers. In my head she’s my baby, still, but she’s striding the world. I never had a dad so I wing it one reality at a time

When tradesmen come to my house I still feel like I need to act in a prescribed range of ways. I’m 58 years old. I try to delegitimise this crap for a living

I offer a brew in one kind of mug, but not another

Not consciously, instinctively

Conditioning

Masculinity bollocks

@Aria_Babu Whichever faulty source suggested that ‘people started having premarital sex in the 1950’s’ needs deleting

@BettsCaro Those are skills I still aspire to!

Does anyone know the reason why successive governments refer to Male Violence Against Women & Girls (#MVAWG) as the mysterious and untethered-from-reality ‘Violence Against Women & Girls’ (#VAWG)?

‘people started having pre-marital sex in the 1950’s’

It’s on the internet, so it must be true 😵‍💫

[Aria Schrecker @Aria_Babu]

People usually say that the pill caused the sexual revolution but a) people started having premarital sex in the 1950s, a decade before the pill and b) contraception is widely used by people who don't live very post-sexual-revolution lives (like in Asia). I think the sexual revolution, i.e. more permissive attitudes about sex, caused the pill to be invented and not the other way round.

But then, why did the sexual revolution happen? I have cooked up a theory. Just as how women have more casual sex on college campuses with fewer men, I think women, as a collective, responded to the male shortage caused by the Second World War by shortening their hemlines and having premarital sex.

Anyone making money from the pornification of girls’ school uniform should be subject to serious sanctions

These girls are right. It shouldn’t be up to them to fight this, but I support them in doing so

[#MenAtWork @MenAtWork_MC]

@Chetstatic @andyburnham @Keir_Starmer @RishiSunak @trussliz @BorisJohnson @theresa_may Do you mean a fear of being categorically clear about sex?

We’re teenage girls fighting to ban the use of school uniform in porn. Why have you left it up to us?
No one should have to feel nervous about walking to school in clothes designed for children. It’s time for law to end the sexualisation of minors
