Welcome to the show @HurstonWaldrep. Hurston is making his Major League debut tomorrow as the starting pitcher for the Atlanta Braves. Congratulations!
Minor Leaguers make poverty wages because of baseball's antitrust exemption. In June, the Supreme Court expressed a willingness to reconsider that exemption.
Today's lawsuit by four recently-contracted MiLB teams may be the case that one day ends the exemption. This is huge.
Our next #RB4LMover is '12 @RedbirdBaseball alum Mark Menaker. After graduating from ISU, he earned his Master's Degree at Northwestern and his Law Degree at DePaul University. Now he works as a MLBPA Certified Agent, attorney, and foudner/CEO of Marksmen Management. #RB4L
MLB players are more united than in recent memory. That is the story--not the views of an outlier or two firing off on social media. In the face of a legalized monopoly, the players stood up for themselves and drew a line in the sand.
I applaud them.
Recapping the past six days of baseball restart talks...
MLB on Wednesday: 100% gonna have the season
MLBPA on Saturday: OK, tell us when and where
MLB today: Actually maybe we won't have a season
- 82 games at sliding scale = ~33% salary
- 50 games at prorated pay = ~33% salary
- 76 games at 75% prorated pay = (drumroll) ~33% salary
It all comes back to the same place. MLB keeps making the same offer in different forms.
After tonight’s @MLB draft, @OctagonBaseball agent, Bobby Witt, and client, Bobby Witt Jr., are the highest-drafted father-son duo as the No. 3 pick in 1985 and the No. 2 pick in 2019, respectively #octagonfamily
It's Friday! Let's take a look at 2010 & the last time @RedbirdBaseball made a NCAA Appearance. Birds won the MVC Tourney & went on to battle Vanderbilt (L 8-7/13 innings), Saint Louis (W 8-3) & Vandy (L 10-4) under HC Mark Kingston. Thanks for the memories!! #RB4L#BacktheBirds
