In response to recent reports that Rory McIlroy donated his latest tournament winnings to Mencap, Grainne Close, Director of Mencap Northern Ireland, shared this statement.
Today we had the All Party Group on Learning Disability in Parliament buildings hosted by Chair @DannyDonnelly1@Economy_NI officials attended to provide an overview of their current provision and an update on their review into Post-19 legislation.
We were delighted to welcome Niall from Longstone school who attended to represent his peers and ask questions relating to transitions and to discuss the challenges he has faced. He wants to see better support for young people going forward. Niall spoke so well and impressed all the MLA’s and attendees.

Here's to 20 more. Congratulations 💐
Thanks to @DianeDoddsMLA & @petermartindup for meeting with us today and discussing next steps and actions. Our sector needs to be respected and supported. The voice of people with learning disability needs to be heard!!
Thanks @petermartindup@DianeDoddsMLA for meeting groups impacted by DOH core grants process. 259 groups applied for a piece of £1.8m. 25 groups successful. No carer groups funded. Some charities will cease altogether due to this loss of funding, others will reduce services.
We’re at @allianceparty conference this morning. Great to chat to @KateNicholl about issues affecting people with learning disability and how her role as economy lead within the party can support the work we do. #InclusionMatters
