"He once threw you into a glass door, didn't he?"
Erik confirms that he did. According to his testimony, the impact shattered the glass door, and after it broke, his father threw him again. This specific example was used to illustrate the level of force that, according to Erik's testimony, his father used during these episodes of anger.
Throughout this exchange, Erik's answers remain brief and direct, while Abramson carefully builds the narrative through focused questions—a common strategy during direct examination. It's hard to believe that a year has passed since Erik and Lyle's parole hearings. I still remember the hope, the nerves, and the feeling that maybe things were finally beginning to change.

Today, as August begins once again, my heart holds onto that same hope. I truly wish this month brings the news so many of us have been waiting and praying for. After everything they've endured, they deserve the chance to embrace a future beyond these prison walls.

No matter what happens, I'll continue believing, supporting, and hoping until the day justice finally finds them.

According to Anna Eriksson, Lyle's former wife, during the years of the trials Erik and Lyle were only allowed to wear civilian clothes while appearing in court.

Before entering the courtroom, they changed into those clothes in the courthouse holding cells, and once the hearing ended, they had to change back into their blue jail uniforms before being transported back. This procedure suggests that photos like this one were likely taken on a court day, either before or after a hearing, although there is no official source confirming the exact date or moment when it was captured.

Anna also shared that this photo was taken while she was dating Lyle, around 1994, so she believes it may date back to the time of the first trial. She admitted that this has always been her least favorite photo of Lyle because, in her own words, "He looks tired, sick, and has that 'everything is fine' smile—but it doesn't reach his eyes. That forced smile he learned as a child." It is a personal reflection from someone who knew him closely during that period, offering an intimate perspective on how she perceived him at the time.

After months of one of the most closely watched trials in the United States, Judge Stanley Weisberg declared a mistrial in Lyle Menendez's case after the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict.

Two weeks earlier, the same had happened with Erik's jury.

The first trial ended without a final decision, reflecting the deep divide between those who viewed the case as premeditated murder and those who believed the years of abuse presented by the defense should have been considered in the verdict.

The prosecution chose to retry both brothers, leading to a second trial that would ultimately change the course of their story.

Erik Menendez He is a man who, despite everything that has happened in his life, has been able to move forward even after being locked up in prison for more than half of his life. 💪🏻

And although he may have made mistakes within it, that did not stop him from changing his essence of moving forward. His projects, his studies, his support for others have shown what a great man he is. 🩵

I sincerely hope he is released soon; he deserves to finally have a dignified life and to survive and be happy.
