A new bill in Parliament seeks to amend the Kenya Citizenship and Immigration Act.
The bill says:
— Kenya will create an official register for stateless people living in the country.
— There will be no time limit for stateless residents to apply for citizenship.
— Applicants can show communication in Kiswahili, a local dialect, or accessible formats for people with disabilities.
— They no longer need to declare an intention to permanently reside in Kenya.
🤔 is china doing this as blackmail to get control over resources in these specific countries? Considering the current scramble for minerals in African nations, I'm betting China's competitors for Africa's minerals will offer these specific countries loans.Greedy African leaders
Kenya's infrastructure mega projects may face delays as China cuts new loans to most African countries.
This may risk future development and slow ongoing projects, as China is one of Kenya's main financiers

BOLSTERING GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL CRIME
In the pursuit of strengthening partnerships, today the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mr Mohamed I. Amin, officially delivered the closing address and presided over the closing ceremony of the East and South Africa Regional Conference organized by the UK’s National Crime Agency that took place in Nairobi- Kenya.
The high level conference convened by the National Crime Agency in collaboration with the British High Commission Nairobi brought together international liaison officers, senior law enforcement officials, policymakers and security experts from across East and Southern Africa. The forum focused on strengthening regional and international cooperation in addressing organised immigration crime and other forms of transnational criminal networks that continue to exploit vulnerable populations and undermine global security.
In his closing remarks, Mr Amin highlighted the growing sophistication of criminal enterprises that exploit migration systems, technology and international financial channels to evade detection. He emphasized that the fight against such threats demands stronger intelligence sharing, joint investigations, digital forensic capabilities and seamless cross border collaboration among law enforcement agencies.
Speaking on Kenya’s commitment to confronting these crimes, the Director reaffirmed the firm stance of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in maintaining zero tolerance toward organised immigration crime, human trafficking and related exploitation. He further noted that through specialized units such as the Anti Human Trafficking and Child Protection Unit and the Transnational Organized Crime Unit, Kenya continues to intensify operations aimed at dismantling criminal syndicates and protecting both citizens and vulnerable migrants.
The Director acknowledged the critical role played by international partnerships particularly the continued technical and operational support from the UK’s National Crime Agency in strengthening investigative capacity, enhancing training and facilitating coordinated enforcement operations across borders.
In his dual capacity as Director of Criminal Investigations and Africa’s delegate to the INTERPOL Executive Committee, Mr Amin reaffirmed his commitment to advancing stronger mechanisms for intelligence exchange as well as coordinated action among African states and global partners in combating transnational crime.
