Hot news: ASMFC Annual mtg- Just incredible how the @ASMFC FAILS to acknowledge the need for drastic cuts to the #menhaden fishery. They literally ignored their own science and data and, as usual, put Business interests first and the coastal ecosystem LAST.
188 sportfishing businesses urged the Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries Commission to keep the half-mile menhaden buffer. Despite broad support, LWFC voted 4–3 to advance the rule. It’s not final — public comments open Dec. 19–Jan. 23.

@BobVanasse3 Always fun to the skewed views from Omega's PR person. Explain why the fleet had to travel all the way up to the NY Bight just to find Bunker to catch. Over 250 miles of NO Bunker is a clear sign that the stocks are way less abundant than the ASMFC data reflect. $$$$
